Pray for Taiwan Earthquake Victims

On April 3, 2024, Taiwan was hit by a devastating earthquake. The following day, teachers took the opportunity to educate their students about the earthquake and inform them of the destruction in Hualien.
Students were surprised to see broken buildings, damaged houses, and landslides. Although scared by what they saw, they quickly asked how the people in Taiwan were feeling.
The students had many ideas about how we could help the earthquake victims. Gavin, a nursery student, told us that he would share his toys with kids who lost them.
Teachers were also delightfully surprised to see a pre-kindergarten student bring her bamboo coin bank to school. She said, “I brought my coin bank to help Master Cheng Yen. Master Cheng Yen’s house is broken because there’s an earthquake. We need to fix Master’s house but I cannot because Master’s house is so far away. I will bring an apple to share next time.”
Two more pre-kindergarten students brought coin cans to send love to the earthquake victims. One said, "I want to help the animals," while another expressed her admiration for Master Cheng Yen, saying, "I brought my coin can to show respect to Dharma Master."
Some of her classmates were inspired and told the teacher that they would also bring their bamboo coin cans to school.
The class ended with a group prayer, good wishes, and a call to pray for the safety of those affected by the recent earthquake in Taiwan.
